Meet the Board
Amanda Cutting President Amanda Cutting is a dedicated leader and advocate for community engagement at the Lardeau Valley Community Centre. Raised in the Kootenays, she has called Meadow Creek home for the past 10 years, where she lives with her family and plays an active role in fostering an inclusive and welcoming community.
Amanda has been involved with LVCC for seven years, serving as a board member, manager for five years, and now as president for the past two years. Her leadership is driven by a passion for creating opportunities that bring people together, with a particular focus on engaging youth.
In addition to her work with LVCC, Amanda is an educational assistant at Jewett Elementary, where she continues to support and inspire young minds. Her commitment to community-building ensures that LVCC remains a space that is accessible, vibrant, and reflective of the diverse needs of the Lardeau Valley.
acutting@lvcc.caBjorn Torgerson is a dedicated community member and one of the newest additions to the Lardeau Valley Community Centre Board, elected last year. Living in Cooper Creek with his young family, he is passionate about supporting local initiatives that strengthen the community and create opportunities for connection.
As a board member, Bjorn brings fresh perspectives and a strong commitment to ensuring LVCC remains a welcoming and inclusive space for all. His dedication to community involvement reflects his belief in fostering a vibrant and engaged Lardeau Valley for current and future generations.
btorgerson@lvcc.caaGreg Underwood Secretary Greg Underwood is a committed board member of the Lardeau Valley Community Centre, bringing extensive experience in organizational coordination, management, and technology. Born and raised in Nelson, BC, he has a deep-rooted connection to the Kootenay region. For the past 10 years, he has lived in Meadow Creek with his family, actively contributing to the local community.
With 20 years as a software developer, Greg combines technical expertise with strategic planning to support LVCC’s operations. He is dedicated to fostering transparency in decision-making and enhancing member engagement, ensuring the centre remains an inclusive and accessible space for the community. His leadership and collaborative approach help drive initiatives that strengthen connections and opportunities in the Lardeau Valley.
gunderwood@lvcc.caKris Healy has stepped into an interim board position at the Lardeau Valley Community Centre to offer her expertise and support to the community she has long been a part of. A longtime resident of Meadow Creek, Kris is an owner and operator of the Meadow Creek Store and Meadow Creek Bar & Grill, serving as a key business and community leader in the Meadow Creek serving the residents of the Lardeau Valley.
Respected for her thoughtfulness and dedication, Kris has been a steadfast supporter of local initiatives, always striving to strengthen connections and opportunities within the Lardeau Valley. Her leadership and deep community ties make her a valuable asset to the LVCC, ensuring it remains a welcoming and thriving space for all.
khealy@lvcc.caVal Smith Vice President, Treasurer Val Smith is a dedicated and longtime board member of the Lardeau Valley Community Centre, serving the community for over 10 years. Currently fulfilling executive board roles as treasurer and vice president, she has played an integral role in creating programs, securing grants and funding that have helped LVCC grow and thrive.
A longtime resident of the Lardeau Valley near Argenta, Val has been deeply involved in community initiatives, leading impactful programs such as Freezer meals and Kids to Camp. Her passion for supporting others extends beyond LVCC, with extensive experience serving on other nonprofit boards.
Now retired from her career as a Special Needs Teacher, an Educational Assistant, and a Business owner, Val continues to utilize her skills and talents supporting the community she loves. A mother and grandmother, she takes pride in her family’s contributions to the region. Her dedication, experience, and leadership make her a vital part of LVCC’s historic, current and future success.
